2013/05/14: With over #300 +135lb #barbell #squats in 3 days, I shifted the focus onto the #deadlift.  After 54 squat reps on this w/o, I dropped the barbell down and did some #deadlifts, keeping focus on form.  I’ve had a issue with hips rising first on the initial pull (insufficient posterior chain involvement/activation), and is why I haven’t deadlifted heavy lately. The form-focused, lighter squats are helping establish these motor engrams to help fix this problem and I continued to focus on this on these deadlifts.  Comparing the back angle in the initial pull (frame 1) with the back angle as the bar is at the knees (frame 2), you can see it had not changed, prior to ”driving the hips to the bar” (frame 3).  My DL PR, 50# heavier, has my hips rising first.  Pictured is 205x5; 225x5 was at a bad angle to show the back angle, but was the cleanest 225x5 set I’ve done to date.  #progress

2013/05/07:  I can’t lift 10 plates so I’ll jump on top of them.  #boxjumps #40inches #10plates #PR #60percentofmyheight but I think I’m maxed out, knees are tucked in and bottomed out, but at least I have my #baseline.  Still can’t top #effebeats’ 12 plate/43” box jumps yet.
